I’m Meghan Peters, Co-owner of Lathered. Pre-business owner era I was a single mom of 2 little ones.  I had moved to Airdrie to be closer to my parents as they helped me with the kiddos when my work hours meant staying past day home closing.  Those same hours also meant that many times I was racing home just to be in time to catch a book reading and tuck-in time with them.  While it was what I had to do FOR them, I wanted to be there WITH them. So although I initially said no to Kristin (which I don’t think she knows the meaning of), when she asked if I wanted to start a cleaning business, I am so glad she gave me no choice.

As Kristin mentioned, I was lucky enough to have her come into my life just short of 20 years ago.  We have worked numerous jobs together, lived together, raised kids together and lived our best lives together.  She is wonderfully driven and honestly I don’t think she ever looks down as I can’t recall a time she ever saw so much as a speed bump in her way. You would likely have to explain what a rearview mirror is because she’s always looking forward.  We complement each other so well as I love to be the one who makes sure we have gas in the car and map out the road to get where we're going. 

The road hasn’t always been smooth but we are both from Saskatchewan…we learned to drive on gravel roads!  Armed with grit, determination and definitely some wine, we have not only navigated our way through running a successful business but we have kept a road map so we can arm others with the directions on how to get here too.  We believe that the secrets to being your own boss shouldn’t be secret and building something great shouldn’t feel like it’s from IKEA.

• I am now the momma of 2 not so little ones. Both in their teens, my son towers over me and my daughter and I share shoes.
• I still use the term ‘bunny hug’ and although my kids were born and raised in Alberta they do too.
• They are also Roughriders fans.  I bleed green so naturally so do they.
• Our family can either be found at the rink or the ball diamonds
• Whenever we have a spare minute from those, we are getting lost in the mountains and in the river fishing.
• I am the oldest of 5 kids.  All of whom are incredibly tall.  I stand 5’3” and they range from 6’- 6’8”.  Got milk?
• They tend to pay me back for the bossiness I had as a child by putting things out of my reach now.
• I am often referred to as the 'Dad' at work. Mostly for my choice in jokes I think.
• I laugh really hard at my own jokes.
• My first niece gets her middle name from me.  She is also ‘head strong’ like me.  I am incredibly proud of both of those things.
• My favourite part of this entire journey has been to watch others succeed and help them reach goals they never thought possible.
